Surveys, Consultations & Feedback
From vision to action
Together, We Can Build a Brighter Future
Timaru is on the cusp of an exciting transformation. As we look to 2050, we face global challenges like climate change, technological advancements, and shifting demographics, but we also see incredible opportunities. By coming together, embracing our district’s unique culture, and staying connected to global trends, we can create a place where all of us - today and in the future can thrive.
The Towards 2050 plan is a call to action for every resident in Timaru. Join us in building a prosperous, sustainable, and innovative future. Together, we can ensure that Timaru remains a place where people feel valued, connected, and able to reach their full potential.
Your voice matters!
Since launching the survey in October last year, we’ve heard from more than 300 individuals and organisations through surveys, consultations, workshops, and forums. All of that feedback has now been brought together to create the first draft of the plan, which is currently with Timaru District Council for initial review.
While we're not gathering further input just yet, the journey is far from over. Once the Council has reviewed the draft, we’ll post it on our website for the next round of community feedback, so you'll have another opportunity to help shape Timaru’s future.
In the meantime, we invite you to take a look at a snapshot of the community’s shared aspirations, shaped by your voices, your hopes, and your vision for the future. It’s a glimpse of what Towards 2050 is all about: creating a Timaru District where everyone can thrive.
Explore the aspirations and see how your input is helping shape the path ahead.
“When we said the Towards 2050 plan wasn’t about me or you, but about US - our community answered the call. We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to contribute. Together, we've laid the foundations for a stronger, more vibrant district.” Nigel Davenport, CEO Venture Timaru
