Swapping the big city for affordable housing and lower living costs

Two former Auckland cops have found a South Canterbury beat on the back of blue skies, short commute times and affordable housing.

Sergeant Lucy Horne, 27, and Constable Connor Aldridge, 25, have escaped soaring house prices in Auckland and settled in the region, building a home on their own slice of paradise in Pleasant Point for about $500,000.

Their story comes in the midst of a marketing campaign by Aoraki Development, encouraging people to set themselves up in the 'Riviera of the South'. The campaign's first target is Aucklanders fed up with house prices and traffic.
