Sunrise over Timaru: Town featured on Australian breakfast show

As the sun rose in Timaru, 8-year-old Monty Laming stood in front of a crowd gathered at Heritage Place, looked down the lens of the Sunrise breakfast show camera and greeted his family across the ditch.

Described as “really sweet” by Venture Timaru operations and destination manager Di Hay, it was just one of many special moments as the Australian television show crossed live to Sunrise roving reporter and weather presenter Sam Mac (McMillan) in town on Tuesday morning.

Part of a campaign to get more Aussies across the ditch, the Caroline Bay Rock and Hop, Te Ana Māori Rock Art Centre, Hector Black’s Lounge Bar and an aerobics demonstration were all showcased, Hay said.
