‘Remote town’ of Timaru makes New York’s Wall Street Journal front page, as destination for burnt-out US doctors

Timaru is having possibly its best ever week on the international stage.
Just two days after Australian breakfast television showcased South Canterbury’s urban heart, the town has made the front page of New York City’s prestigious Wall Street Journal.
On Friday morning (NZ time), the front page of The Wall Street Journal’s website featured a story titled “Burned-Out Doctors Are Leaving the US for a Remote Town in New Zealand’’, saying Timaru had become a magnet for medical workers fed up with the American healthcare system and seeking a better work-life balance.
