Bands and carols in the Timaru Botanic Gardens have featured before but on Saturdayit will be something new –movies.

Two films - Peter Rabbit and Hunt for the Wilderpeople – will screen in the free family event although gold coin donations can be made to Alzheimers NZ.

“It'll be an interesting experience for Timaru,” said Richard Howey, whose company is setting up the screen and sound system.

“The screen is about five and a half metres high; not sure about the width. It's a LED screen that comes in panels that clip together.''

Howey said it was a little unusual screening a film at 6pm when there was still a lot of daylight.
