Hundreds attend inaugural beach polo and showjumping at Timaru’s Caroline Bay

Polo at the Beach was held on Thursday afternoon and marked the start of the 2026 Seaside Festival.

Hundreds of people, including many cruise ship passengers, attended Caroline Bay’s first-ever beach polo match and showjumping competition on Thursday.

Polo on the Beach marked the start of the 2026 Seaside Festival, which will run until February 15.

The event was put on by Timaru businessman Tim Black, Venture Timaru operations and destination manager Di Hay and Seaside Festival organiser Simon Carter.
