Geraldine business wins top national award second year running
A South Canterbury business cut the mustard with the sort of relish that continues to make it one of the country's best.
Barker's of Geraldine has won the dry goods category at the New Zealand Food Awards for the second year in a row.
Its New Yorker Mustard Relish secured the top honour, following its success with its New Zealand Seedless Berry Bramble Preserve last year.
Company director Michael Barker described Barker's second win as "quite humbling" and very exciting for his team.
"I think in the last four years we've probably had the highest level of success of any medium to large size New Zealand food company."
The relish is just one of a host of products the company produced in what has been a period of innovation and change. Barker noted the company had, over the past two months, sent 11 new products to the supermarket shelves.
